| Some of the most impressive emerald and aquamarine crystals have come from the dry lake bed and gravel bars in the river, found by gold prospectors. One gold prospector found a beautiful six-sided, transparent aquamarine crystal in white quartz. Appraisals on this stone were $900.00 and $1000.00 respectively. Remember, all the gem stones and gold you find are yours to keep! Set up or rent a highbanker and screen the washed stone and at the end of the day chances are you will be rewarded with North Carolina gold and some local gem stones! |
| Excavation of the largest pegmatite vein to date has yielded emeralds up to 125 carets in weight, aquamarine, moonstone, large feldspar crystals, 250 caret garnets, smoke quartz, rose quartz, blue quartz, quartz crystals and tourmaline. Also found have been the most sought after blue green emeralds with perfect clarity but with no size. In 2002 we excavated 600 ton of gem bearing material & moved it to our water flume for your convenience. Each winter we will expect to excavate from 150 to 600 tons of gem bearing material & have it available for your prospecting pleasure. |
