| Carolina Emerald Mine and Vein Mt. Gold Camp has one of the newest discoveries of emeralds in the state, one hundred plus years after the discovery of emeralds in Hiddenite, Shelby and Spruce Pine North Carolina. The material from our emerald mine is transported to our water flume in its natural unsalted condition. You are the first person to discover these natural treasures. Vein Mt. Gold Camp was opened in 1995 to the public for recreational gold prospecting. With over 30 acres and a mile of river and creek this makes us one of the largest and productive recreational gold mines in western North Carolina. Since the discovery of emeralds in 1995 we boast to be the only Recreational gold mine with an operating emerald mine. Here at the mines we endeavor to provide the public with a most memorable experience in gem mining and gold prospecting with the emphasis placed on education! We have the capacity to cater to the individual, family, rock club, BSA, church youth groups, or schools. Please contact us for your special select outings.
